What is SSL?
SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a standard security protocol for establishing encrypted connections between web servers and web browsers in online communication. The use of SSL technology ensures that all data transmitted between the web server and the browser remains encrypted.
To establish encrypted communication, you need to install an SSL certificate. SSL certificate must include domain name of the website that uses it, be issued by the authorized CA (Certification Authority) and be valid.
SSL certificate can be issued for a period of one year, after which they are renewed.
Wildcard certificate is a digital certificate that is applied to a domain and all its subdomains.
DV (Domain Validated) certificate: Inexpensive, basic protection recommended for personal or hobby sites and small forums that need basic encryption for things like logins, forms or other non-transactional data.
OV (Organization Validated) certificate: Affordable protection for small businesses. Recommended for small- to mid-sized business sites where validation of the company is important. Highly recommended for sites with low-volume eCommerce transactions.
EV (Extended Validated) certificate: Proven to boost customer confidence. Recommended for mid-sized to enterprise sites where visitor confidence is key. A must for websites with transactions for payments, online banking, and eCommerce.
Sectigo (earlier Comodo) offers a comprehensive range of highly-trusted SSL certificate products designed to meet the needs of every business.
Thawte is a leading provider of domain, business and extended validation SSL certificates. Particularly strong in Europe.
TrustWave is recognized as an SSL certificate Provider. There are also SSL Certificates with SAN (Subject Alternative Name), which allow you to protect additional domain names with one certificate.
Enter the name of the domain for which the certificate is being purchased. If you want the certificate to cover www.[domain] and [domain], type in the field www.[domain].
For the purpose of the process of order validation and receipt of certificates, you need to provide a contact email address that must be one of the following: admin, administrator, hostmaster, postmaster, webmaster on the domain for which the certificate is purchased. The email address must be valid so you can communicate using it with the Certification Authority that issues the certificate.
CSR (Certificate Signing Request) file is necessary for issuing certificates. CSR file is generated on the server where the certificate will be installed and contains information about the certificate holder that the Certification Authority (CA) will use to issue the certificate (domain name for which the certificate is purchased, organization, country). If you do not have ready CSR file when ordering your certificate, we will contact you after registering your payment.
